Experience with Travel Supreme Select 2002 - 2004?

I would appreciate reviews good, bad, and ugly about Travel Supreme Select. I know that Jayco recently bought them out and may revive it as their own brand of up-scale coach. Would like to know your experiences and thoughts. Thanks, Jan

RE: How loud is basement A/C ?

I read this thread the other day, and went away thinking - gee, it would a nice item to have and a plus for units we are considering. HOWEVER, a 45' tandem axel Newell just pulled in two spots away from us (we have 40' wide spaces) and the noise coming from the exhaust bay was awful -- I was sitting directly across from the exhaust bay, and when I walked forward or aft, the noise level was reduced considerably. There are concrete pads here, so there is no dust, but I will have to say the noise level is, at the very least, annoying. There is certainly nothing the owner can do about it, but the manufacturer should install baffles to direct the sound so it doesn't assault the neighbors. Whew!! Glad we don't sit in the yard every night.

RE: Have you worked Activities?

I haven't done it yet, but am getting a lot of positive feedback for starting a pool exercise group for 1/2 hour twice a week. Just some appropriate music at the pool and some easy water exercises I found on the internet. I also have some Resort funds for a BYOB wine and cheese social at the club house patio. In that same style, I am doing an Octoberfest night each Saturday in October with decorations, Brats, German Potato Salad and Saurkraut (my husband and I cook the brats, hot potato salad and kraut). The Resort funds the food, and everyone brings their own choice of drinks. German music. Maybe some costumes, if I can find them. Earlier in the summer, there was a Luau at the pool - with decorations, BBQ shrimp and chicken-ka-bobs, Hawaiian rice, fresh pineapple, etc. Hawaiian music. We also have a Native American story-teller/musician once a month. Everyone loves that one.

RE: PPL Motor Homes

You can also buy RV parts from PPL on line. We have had wonderful luck with them -- good prices and quick service.

RE: WAS heading to south padre this weekend now where?

Go anyway!! I am sure the businesses there can use the money, and if the weather is good now, the beaches will probably be good also. If not, I am sure there are some folks there who would welcome some extra hands to clean up. =o)

RE: RVTV-Nuke the cooking ladies!

Aside from being lame and not fun to watch, Cooking ladies sure don't do food for an RV -- who has room to carry all those huge appliances and special use things? RV cooking should be quick, easy, tasty, and fun. Their stuff isn't. Stopped watching the show all together. Too much time spent on them.

RE: fuel plaza preference?

Flying J HAS BEEN my favorite for some due to all the reasons listed before my post - however after traveling through Wyoming, I have changed my mind. After 3 VERY unsatisfactory stops in Wyoming (broken diesel pumps, closed dump stations, no rinse water at the dump station, and VERY cramped space around the RV station) it makes good sense to drive by and look the place over before stopping. We were trapped at Rock Springs for over an hour because of a semi making deliveries to the store and absolutely NO WAY to get around. The manager has been unsuccessful in convincing upper management to have deliveries made in the rear. One bad experience can be understood, but an entire State????

RE: Screen Door Rattle while Driving

We had that problem too -- turned out to be the decorative screen protector. A little museum putty fixed it right up.

RE: Lap-Band Surgery, anyone had it?

I had a vertical banded gastroplasty with sleeve gastectomy in July of 2004. Lost 110 pounds and holding. Most of the weight was gone by December, 2004. This surgery was instead of a gastric bypass - but is not for people who graze. It did away with most of my grelin production so appetite was drastically decreased. It has no malnutrative issues as with gastric bypass and duodenal switch surgeries. I chose this surgery for my specific needs -- aging and not wanting any problems with uptake of B vitamins, etc. Lap band does much the same thing as my surgery without the elimination of grelin. I don't think I would be having this success without that reduced grelin hormone. There are always side effects . . . some people have them worse than others. My only problem is stomach gas after eating -- not always, but frequently. I would still choose my weight loss with the side effects, but there is always a price to pay that has nothing to do with money. Just be prepared to pay that piper. Good luck -- just be sure to choose a doctor with great long term follow-up, support group meetings, and choices along with education about those choices so that you can choose what is right for you.

RE: How Many Members Have Heart Disease?

Had quad bypass in 2005. Doing well. Loving full-timing.

RE: Feeding Dogs Bread

Why would you feed your dog bread? I never knew of a dog that could bake his own bread -- that said, a small bit as a treat should be OK, but a small bit of meat or veggie would be better. It is safer to stick to foods we know dogs can eat, like meat and veggies -- giving random treats of foods humans eat could lead to unexpected disasters - like raisins or chocolate, and other foods that are toxic to pets.

RE: low Magnesium canned Cat food

There is absolutely NOTHING better than homemade pet foods. I have both dogs and my 18-yr old blind kitty on home made raw food. Sure was glad I did when the poison pet food came out. There is absolutely tons of info on the net about raw diets for pets (B.A.R.F.) Check it out on the net and then decide if you would like to eliminate all those nasty preservatives and dead and spoiled carcasses from your pet's diet. Create a recipe that works for you and your pets and stick with it. I reserve nearly my whole freezer for pet food, and when we upgrade the DP, we will have a freezer underneath so I can make plenty at one time. It may take a few days or a week to convince your kitty of a change in food, but my dogs immediately went for it. Can't say enough about the benefits -- from better breath to better health, smaller stools (helpful when you are picking them up for large dogs). It takes one day about every 5 to 6 weeks for me to make the food myself -- small effort with big benefits. Just be careful to include all the necessary nutrients in your recipe, and weigh your animals every two weeks to make sure they are not gaining or losing weight. This food is very nutritious with no fillers - an extra tablespoon at each meal will put weight on that your pet should not have. We have "doggie weigh-in" every two weeks for all of us . . . Tom, me, Kitty, George, and Archie. We keep a log, and it keeps all of us in line!!! Good luck. Jan Full-time since 2006 All three fur kids love the road too!

RE: Camping Etiquette

I have always felt as you do, but have noticed that this is not necessarily the case everywhere. I am in a park now where it is common, and accepted, that campers walk through other sites all the time. The sites and rather small (a seaside park), and there are no designated walkways and narrow sites. Not walking through another's site would mean a long walk to the end of one road and another long walk back down the next road to get to the rec hall or the showers, or the fish-cleaning station. It has been hard to get used to, and I am really not completely used to it yet (after 6 months). All I can say, is there may well be some people who think it is absolutely acceptable -- although there are also the inconsiderate types who think etiquete is only for others.

RE: Which Came First?

I managed to drive my upgrade home from Florida to Virginia. Had a 25' gasser, and upgraded to a 38' Beaver diesel pusher. Yes, the systems are different, but with some instruction from the dealer and reading the manuals, especially regarding operation, I made it back to Virginia, purchased a tow dolly, learned how to load and unload it, tow it, check the belts, and also dealt with a roadside breakdown, and was comfortable at the wheel within about 3 hours. Don't be afraid, just don't rush and read your manuals. If this old lady can do it, you certainly can.
